The Open Learning Centre

Don't Tell Bill...

because The Open Learning Centre is passionate about Freedom. Your Freedom.

We help businesses large and small understand and enjoy the huge benefits that are available, to anyone, through the use of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS).

We are offering businesses in the South East of England a free one hour consultation to discuss with you if there are areas of your IT infrastructure that could use some freedom: Freedom from Vendor Lock-in. Freedom from costly license fees. Freedom from the upgrade treadmill. Freedom to use your IT as you wish. And the Freedom to grow your business.

Our company runs entirely on Free Software.

Think about that for a minute. We use no commercial software whatsoever1. There are no upgrade costs, or recurring license fees, nor are there any restrictions on what we can do with our IT systems or who can use our chosen applications.

  • We do use normal Desktop and Laptop computers (but not with WindowsTM of course).
  • We do use the Internet, and Email and Instant Messaging.
  • We create and share documents, spreadsheets and presentations between ourselves and our customers and partners.
  • We create and modify graphics and other images just like you do.
  • We also use enterprise-grade applications such as CRM, Document and Content Management, financial accounting and groupware applications such as calendaring.
  • We write blogs and we build and manage websites such as this one.
  • And even our telephone system is Free and Open Source Software.
  • Oh yes, and we have fun too...

[1] We do need to use it sometimes when integrating FOSS and commercial software for customers, e.g. for testing purposes. But we don't use any to run or support our own business processes.
